Hugo (“Hugo,” “we,” “us”) is a voice-first daily news application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Hugo you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and name, and an optional self-reported profession. Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk.
• Voice and microphone audio. When you start a voice session, your microphone audio is streamed in real time to our voice provider (ElevenLabs) to power the live conversation. We use the microphone only during an active session.
• Usage and diagnostic data. We collect limited technical data (such as app version, device type, and error logs) to operate and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.

How we use your information

• To authenticate you and provide access to the app.
• To deliver and operate the daily briefing and live voice conversation.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose problems.

Service providers

We share information only with vendors that process it on our behalf to run Hugo, under their own privacy and security commitments:

• Clerk — account authentication and identity.
• ElevenLabs — real-time voice conversation and speech.
• OpenAI — generating the editorial briefing text (server-side).
• Tavily — retrieving current news sources (server-side).
• Supabase and Vercel — data storage and hosting.

AI-generated and third-party content

Hugo’s briefings and conversational answers are generated by artificial intelligence and drawn from third-party news sources and live web search. Content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and is provided for general information only — it is not professional, financial, legal, or medical advice.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Account → Delete Account), which permanently removes your Hugo account. You may also email us at hugonewsai@gmail.com to request deletion.

Children

Hugo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us at hugonewsai@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above.
